Skills and requirements to earn your K.A.T. Level 1 Instructor Certification
Because of the high degree of athleticism, neural acuity, strength, and conditioning required to become a K.A.T. instructor, you will need to train consistently and hard for several months to earn this certification—the only one of its kind in the country. Below are the foundational requirements you will need to earn your K.A.T. Level 1 Instructor Certification:
- Safely and skillfully demonstrate the 1- and 2-kettlebell foundational skills of the K.A.T. System with cast-iron and Supple (leather) kettlebells*
- Demonstrate proficiency teaching a beginner student to safely and effectively progress through a K.A.T. juggling session for the first time
- Pass the physical test**
- Men under 55: 120 consecutive double helis with a 26-lb KB (men who weigh 225 lbs or more must throw a 35-lb KB for 100 reps)
- Men 55 and over: 80 consecutive double helis with a 26-lb KB (men who weigh 225 lbs or more must throw a 26-lb KB for 120 reps)
- Women under 55: 100 double helis with an 18-lb KB (women who weigh under 115 lbs will throw a 15-lb KB for 100 reps)
- Women 55 and over: 70 double helis with an 18-lb KB (women who weigh under 115 lbs will throw a 15-lb KB for 70 reps)
- Pass the 33-question written test with a score of 80 percent or better.
*Leather kettlebells are a versatile training tool that certified K.A.T. instructors use to teach kettlebell juggling indoors.
**Participants will have 6 months to film and redo the physical test.
